In an announcement on Monday, the LSU Baseball team received the No. 5 overall seed for the upcoming NCAA tournament.

This achievement places the Tigers in a favorable position, as a successful weekend at Alex Box would not only advance them in the tournament, but also grant them the opportunity to host a highly anticipated super regional.

The LSU Tigers, with a 43-15 overall record and 19-10 conference record, will host the Baton Rouge regional in the NCAA tournament, featuring Oregon State, Sam Houston State and Tulane as the second, third and fourth seeds respectively.

The regional will start at 2 p.m. on Friday with LSU facing off against Tulane.

Despite having a season record 19-40, Tulane managed to secure a spot in the NCAA tournament by winning over East Carolina with an 8-6 victory in the American Athletic Conference tournament championship.

Tulane and East Carolina were the only teams from the AAC to qualify for the postseason.

LSU stands among the eight teams from the Southeastern Conference that have earned the opportunity to host a regional in the NCAA baseball tournament, marking a historic achievement for the conference.

Joining LSU as regional hosts are Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida, Kentucky, South Carolina and Vanderbilt.

Tennessee and Texas A&M have also qualified for the tournament but will compete away from home in their respective regionals.

The winner of the Baton Rouge Regional will advance to face the winner of the Lexington Regional, hosted by the No. 12 seed in the tournament, Kentucky.

Kentucky welcomes Ball State, West Virginia and Indiana to its regional as the competing teams.

The Oregon State Beavers, seeded No. 2 in the Baton Rouge Regional, are scheduled to face the Bearkats at 7 p.m. on Friday.

Having concluded the regular season with a 39-18 overall record and a 18-12 Pac-12 record, the Beavers secured the No. 2 spot in their conference. Under the guidance of head coach Mitch Canham, this marks their third postseason appearance and Canham himself holds a postseason record of 7 wins and 5 losses.

The Beavers have been on an impressive run, winning 27 out of their last 37 games.
