South Carolina's Baseball team stuck around for a while, but after a strong first game the Gamecock's completely fell apart. LSU came in hot offensively and were just too much for South Carolina to handle.

Thatcher Hurd was chosen to be the starting pitcher for LSU. At one moment during the game, the right-handed pitcher managed to retire 12 consecutive batters.

However, he later surrendered a home run to South Carolina's Ethan Petry on a 1-2 count.

Hurd's performance not only helped LSU maintain their lead against the Gamecocks, but also indicated that he could be a reliable starting pitcher.

Sam Dutton came on as Hurd's relief pitcher, but could not find the consistency that the team needed in that moment.

Nate Ackenhausen was the coaching staffs next choice to perform on the mound.

Ackenhausen delivered an impressive performance by pitching the final 3⅔ innings without allowing any runs.

He only allowed one hit and three walks while striking out six batters. This outing showcased another promising display from a bullpen member that has been inconsistent in the past.

When it came to the batting lineup, Dylan Crews remained in the leadoff spot, a position he has held since the Georgia series last weekend.

However, Josh Pearson moved up to bat second, Tommy White shifted from second to third in the batting order, and Tre' Morgan took on the cleanup spot.

As a result, the Tigers were able to include Brayden Jobert in the left field position, batting eighth. Jobert had a productive game, going 2 for 3 at the plate, drawing one walk, and driving in two runs.

Here is LSU's scoring summary from the game:

B2 - Jobert two-run homer to right field (2-0 LSU)

B5 - Pearson walk, Jobert scores (3-1 LSU)

B5 - White walk, Dugas scores (4-1 LSU)

B5 - Morgan fly out to centerfield, sacrifice fly scores Crews (5-1 LSU)

B5 - Travinski fly out to centerfield, sacrifice fly scores Pearson (6-1 LSU)

B6 -Travinski RBI single scores Pearson (8-3 LSU)

B7 - Crews RBI single scores Kling (9-3 LSU)

Here is South Carolina's scoring summary from the game:

T5 - Petry solo homer to left field (2-1 LSU)

At 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, the Tigers (43-13) are scheduled to compete against the winner of the match between No. 2 Arkansas (39-15) and No. 10 Texas A&M (33-23).
