In a closely contested match, Arkansas Baseball emerged victorious against the LSU Tigers with a final score of 5-4.

LSU's ace, Paul Skenes struggled to maintain the consistency that the Tiger's needed throughout his innings pitched.

In the pivotal fourth inning of LSU's defeat to Arkansas in the Southeastern Conference tournament on Thursday, Skenes, facing a challenging situation, loaded the bases for only the second time this year.

It began when he hit the leadoff batter with a pitch, followed by conceding three consecutive singles to Brady Slavens, Caleb Cali and Peyton Holt before finally securing the first out.

However, Skenes then issued a walk to Parker Rowland, intensifying the pressure. The second out came when Tavian Josenberger hit an infield fly, temporarily alleviating the tension in the inning.

Following the series of events, LSU's standout right-handed pitcher, Skenes, had his shortest outing of the season and was subsequently removed from the game.

A contentious catcher's interference on Alex Milazzo call took place after left-hander Riley Cooper entered the game as Skenes' replacement.

This call resulted in a tie ballgame turning into a lead for Arkansas -- a lead that the Razorbacks successfully maintained until the end of the game.

Arkansas made the most of their three consecutive singles, scoring two runs to even the score at 2-2.

The catcher's interference call extended the inning for Arkansas, providing them with an opportunity to add three more runs to their tally. This sequence of events allowed Arkansas to take the lead in the game.

In the sixth inning, LSU managed to place two men on base.

However, their hopes were dashed when Jordan Thompson hit a ground ball to the shortstop, resulting in a fielder's choice. Tre' Morgan was forced out at second base, allowing Thompson to reach first.

To further complicate matters for LSU, second baseman Peyton Holt quickly threw the ball to third baseman Caleb Cali, who tagged Travinski for the out. As a result, the Tigers found themselves with two outs in the inning.

In the eighth inning, the Tigers managed to score two additional runs.

Jordan Thompson delivered an RBI single, driving in a run to bring LSU closer on the scoreboard.

In the ninth inning, Dylan Crews hit a solo home run, further narrowing the gap between the two teams.

However, Arkansas' pitcher Hunter Hollan responded by striking out Paxton Kling and inducing a groundout from Tommy White, effectively sealing the victory for Arkansas and bringing an end to the game.

Here is LSU's scoring summary from the game:

T1 - Morgan RBI single scores White (1-0 LSU)

T4 - Wild Pitch, Travinski scores (2-0 LSU)

T8 - Thompson RBI single scores Travinski (5-3 Arkansas)

T9 - Crews Solo homer to left field (5-4 Arkansas)

Here is Arkansas' scoring summary from the game:

B4 - Cali RBI single scores Wegner (2-1 LSU)

B4 - Holt RBI single scores Slavens (2-2)

B4 - Diggs reaches first on catchers interference, Rowland advances to second, Holt to third, Cali scores (3-2 Arkansas)

LSU will be taking on Texas A&M in an elimination game on Friday at 4:00 p.m. CT.
